Umi Monogatari, the pachinko line that its Sanyo Bussan manufacturer describes as the most popular in Japan, has a television anime spinoff green-lit for this summer. Junichi Sato (Aria, Kaleido Star, Princess Tutu) will direct this Umi Monogatari ~Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto~ "magical maiden fantasy" with Yuu Kou (Chrono Crusade, Monochrome Factor, Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo) serving as series director. Toshihiko Tsukiji (Maburaho, Hayate the Combat Butler novel version) drafted the story concepts, while Yuka Yamada (Neo Angelique Abyss, Tide-Line Blue) is supervising the scripts. Haruko Iizuka (Sisters of Wellber, Sisters of Wellber Zwei, Sky Girls) is designing the characters that ZEXCS will animate.

The "transforming magical girl action" story centers on Marin and Urin, two "pure" sisters who live alongside the fish in the sea, but yearn to be in the world beyond the water and above ground. One day, a beautiful ring falls in the middle of the sea, and Marin and Urin retrieve it. The two decide to leave their waterbound world for the first time to deliver the ring. After an arduous journey, they come across an isolated island where a high school girl named Kanon lives. The encounter between Marin and Kanon — the maiden of the sea and the maiden of the skies — awakens a hidden power as the world is threatened by an enveloping darkness.

Katsuragi will launch a manga series in Mag Garden's Comic Blade magazine on February 28, while Tonmi Narihara will launch a different manga in Futabasha's Comic High! magazine on March 21.

Vi o primeiro episódio disto hoje, e devo dizer que me surpreendeu bastante pela positiva.

Apesar de nos primeiros minutos estar-me a apetecer meter isto a um cantinho, parecia-me demasiado Shojo para o meu gosto, acabou por me conseguir prender.

Gosto muito do character design, e não notei falhas na animação, mas também não me chamou muito à atenção nesse capitulo.

As sereias têm pernas aqui, mesmo debaixo de àgua :<

E sinto a minha masculinidade a fugir.

Gostei do primeiro episódio. Espero que isto venha a ser o tipico anime do Satou Jun'ichi tipo Princess Tutu e Aria.
