The wraparound jacket band on the 12th volume of Hideyuki Kurata and Studio Orphee's R.O.D -Read or Die- novel series revealed on Thursday that a new anime project is "under consideration." A quote on the jacket band by Tomonori Ochikoshi, producer of the 2003 television anime adaptation and president of anime studio A-1 Pictures, teases ongoing discussions.

The novel series received a three-episode original video anime (OVA) adaptation in 2001, as well as a television anime in 2003.

The novels center on protagonist Yomiko Readman, an agent who performs missions for the British Library's Special Operations Division in an alternate world where the British Empire has remained a superpower.
