Phantasy Star Online 2 Game Gets TV Anime in 2016
TV anime based on Sega's online RPG will have completely new story
Sega announced at an event in Okinawa on Sunday that its Phantasy Star Online 2 online role-playing game is getting a television anime adaptation in 2016. Sega also opened a website on Sunday for the adaptation.
The Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation series will have a completely original story, and the story will take place on Earth in the near future.
The anime will be the eighth project to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Phantasy Star Online franchise.
Sega released the free-to-play Phantasy Star Online 2 role-playing game for Windows PC in Japan in 2012, followed by a PlayStation Vita release in 2013, and an Android and iOS release in April and May 2014, respectively. The anime announcement noted that the game has more than 3.5 million registered users.
Cast:
The staff also announced that lead voice actor Shouta Aoi is performing the theme song. The song will debut at the Sympathy 2015 event on Monday.

Sword Art Online II TV Anime to Launch in 2014
Announced during Sword Art Online: Extra Edition special on Tuesday
A new Sword Art Online television anime, Sword Art Online II, will launch in 2014. The announcement was made during Tuesday's premiere of the Sword Art Online: Extra Edition special and on the franchise's updated website. The website gives the new arc the subtitle "Phantom Bullet." More details will be announced on the site.
The next stretch of Reki Kawahara's original novels features fictional massively multiplayer online game Gun Gale Online, which focuses on firearms, but also features knifes and light saber-like weapons.
Gun Gale Online character Sinon, voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro in the PSP and Vita games, along with a drama CD, also made a cameo at the end of extra edition.
