Gainax Makes Anime of Arabic Manga Gold Ring by Zelda's Himekawa

Series revolves around a young man who participates in a falconry competition

Akira Himekawa (a pen name used by duo A. Honda and S. Nagano) announced on their blog on June 19 that Gainax will develop an anime based their Arabic-language graphic novel Gold Ring.

Himekawa said the project is planned to be developed in the the United Arab Emirates and overseen by Gainax. Himekawa also said this model will be the first of its kind, and they are still in the initial planning stages. The artists are collaborating on the project.

Gold Ring began in 2006 and won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award for children's literature in the United Arab Emirates in 2010. Qais Sedki, who lives in Dubai, created the original concept while Himekawa contributed the art. The trio worked through a translator in Japan.

The series revolves around a young man who participates in a falconry competition.

Saint Seiya Soul of Gold Anime Teased for Next Spring

Teaser footage, key visual unveiled at Tamashii Nation 2014 event   Bandai unveiled a teaser video and a key visual for the Spring 2015 project Saint Seiya -Ōgon Tamashii- (Saint Seiya soul of gold) at the Thursday preview preview for its Tamashii Nations 2014 event. The caption on the visual reads, "Gold Cosmos reborn." News sites Cinema Today and Game Watch are reporting that the project is a new anime "starting" next spring and focusing on the Gold Saints, but Bandai has not specified if the project will be for television, film, or video. Tamashii Nations 2014 will run from October 31 to November 2 at the Akihabara UDX building in Tokyo.

Masami Kurumada's original mythological fantasy manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1985 to 1990, and it has over 34 million copies in print worldwide. The manga quickly inspired a 1986 television anime series that was popular not only in Japan, but also in France, Italy, other parts of Europe, Brazil, other parts of South and Central America, and Asia. The anime aired in more than 80 countries.

Saint Seiya Omega, a sequel to the first anime, aired from April 2012 to this past March. A decade after the last Saint Seiya film, 2004's Saint Seiya Tenkai-hen Jōsō ~Overture~, a new CG film directed by Keiichi Satou (Tiger & Bunny, Ashura) opened this past June.
